A reference to geisha. A woman tells a man that he can do whatever he wants with three geisha. As lower-class geisha were little more than prostitutes, this is a clear sexual reference. Sanjuro rescues a woman from rape.

Occasionally, severed limbs are seen but this is never too graphic.

The main character seems to be unmoved by violence and he kills alot of people wihout alot of thought.

This film was replicated by Sergio Leone's films (Fistful of Dollars, A Few Dollars More, and The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.) Blood isn't present with the sword fights especially, when the lead character strikes several ronins down with his sword though, the torture scene has the lead all bruised and beaten facially.

There is some action throughout but the majority of it happens at the end.

A few uses of "b****," and "son of a b****".

Mild swearing depending on the translation. The Japanese includes uses of the words "Chikusho" and "kuso" (traditionally translated out to "damn" or "damn it" and "shit," respectively).

A majority of the movie has character's consuming sake, in one scene two characters get drunk.

Sanjuro and other characters drink a large amount of sake during the film.
