Earth has been attacked by the Black Nebula Empire and is threatening to blow up the planet if they are counterattacked, The Yamato crew try to defuse the bomb.

Gamilons are a race of evil aliens that are trying to destroy the planet Earth. However, a group of civilians look to the battleship Yamato for its space travel and go on a mission to bring back a neutralizer that will get rid of the radiation from the Earth.

17 years after the last film, a wandering black hole is approaches the Solar System, and will surely destroy all life on Earth very soon. The decision has been made to evacuate Earth's entire population, to a safer planet light years away

The battle with the White Comet Empire, Yamato finally returns to Earth to obtain more members and be inspected for repairs. When he returns to his home planet, Desler, but instead he finds the fleet of the Black Nebula Empire strip mining the Earth for its core.
