Billy the Kid (Buster Crabbe) Collection

Billy the Kid (Buster Crabbe) and his pal Jeff (Dave O'Brien) help their friend Fuzzy Jones (Al St. John) escape from jail, and the trio heads for Paradise Valley, where they find the Paradise Land Development Company, ran by Matt Brawley (Glenn Strange) and Jack Saunders (Charles King), is somewhat less than honest in their dealings with the homesteaders. They devise a plan to cause a split between Brawley and Saunders.

When Sheriff Hanley sends for Billy and his pals, they arrive to find him murdered and Ed Slade temporary Sheriff. When henchman try to wreck the newpaper they take up the fight. First they get Fuzzy to run for Sheriff. Then Billy gets a confession from Slade as to the Sheriff's killer. On election day with the newspaper once again wrecked, they try to get out a paper with Slade's confession.

After Billy, Fuzzy and Jeff are rescued from a hanging by mysterious strangers, the countryside if terrorized by three men, posing as Billy, Fuzzy and Jeff. Sheriff Masters puts Billy and his pals on the trail of the impostors. The trail leads to Mesa City, an outlaw town run by Jim Stanton, under whose orders, three killers, Montana, Pete and Curly, have been robbing and murdering, disguised as Billy and his two sidekicks. Billy brings in the impostors but they are released by crooked-judge Clarke. Stanton makes henchman Red Barton the new sheriff, with orders to get Billy. Again assuming their disguises, Montana, Pete and Curly rob the stagecoach. And Billy, Fuzzy and Jeff have to begin again in the process of clearing their own names.

Knowing the Army is arriving to establish a post. Doc Hagan and his gang and the crooked Sheriff are trying to drive the ranchers off the land. When the gang wound a rancher, the Doc finishes him off with his needle. Running from the law again, Billy and his pals arrive and take up the ranchers fight. But when Billy's pal Jeff is wounded, Fuzzy unknowningly takes him to Doc Hagan.

In this entry in PRC's "Billy the Kid" series (aka "Billy the Kid in Law and Order") Billy the Kid and his pals Jeff Travis and Fuzzy Jones, are arrested and brought to Ft. Culver, where Billy is amazed to discover that he and the post commander, Lt. Ted Morrison, are exact doubles. Learning of a plot to swindle Aunt Mary Todd, a rich, blind relative of Morrison's, by marrying her off to impostor Simms instead of her sweetheart George Fremont who is on his way to her ranch, Billy and his pals escape and head for the ranch. Mil Crawford, head of the gang scheming to get hold of the blind woman's fortune through Simms, has two men hold up the stage and kill Fremont and Morrison. Finding the bodies, Billy impersonates Morrison, and Crawford is furious when he sees Billy and mistakes him for the nephew, figuring his men had failed.The next day Linda, the niece of Fremont, arrives for the wedding and Billy meets her stagecoach and arranges for her to denounce Simms as an impostor.

Billy and his pals, on the run from the law again, travel to Sage Valley where Billy is made Sheriff. The local outlaw gang is run by Kansas Ed who closely resembles Billy. Ed captures Billy and changing clothes with him, now plans to run the town as Sheriff.

Escaping from the Marshal, Billy and Fuzzy ride to Laramy only to find it a ghost town. Sykes and his gang have driven people away while they look for the gold mine of a man they have killed. Billy hopes to straighten things out, but is in more trouble when his true identity becomes known.

Billy breaks jail in Texas and travels to Sundown at the request of his friend Fuzzy. There he runs into Mort Slade who is after a mortgage held by banker Ainsley. Slade's men rob the bank and then incite a run on the bank knowing Ainsley does not have enough money.

Billy the Kid learns that someone in Red Rock is impersonating him, causing a warrant to be issued for his arrest. On the way there he and Fuzzy Jones witness a hold-up by a gang of outlaws led by Kate Shelly and Billy decides to join the gang in order to clear his name. Kate sends Billy to rob the stagecoach and then has the sheriff tipped off so that Billy will be caught. Billy captures two of Kate's gang and learns about the tip-off, and tells Kate he couldn't pull off the robbery because the sheriff had been informed. Kate gives Billy the assignment of helping her rob the Red Rock Bank and,this time, Billy tells the Sheriff but he also warns Kate not to go through with the robbery because he knows she will be caught. But Kate, suspicious of Billy, has him imprisoned and rides on over to Red Rock to rob the bank. Kate is wounded in the hold-up and flees with the Sheriff in hot pursuit. Meanwhile, Billy has escaped and arrives in time to save Kate from falling from her horse. He takes her to his hideout and is trying to help the wounded girl when her chief henchman, Dillon , shows up.

Randall is trying to get the Governor impeached so he can take over control of the state. Knowing the Governor and Billy are good friends, he has Billy framed for murder. Fuzzy finds the shell and Billy sees it has a peculiar mark. Now they have to find the owner of that gun.

Billy the Kid (Buster Crabbe) and Fuzzy Jones (Al St. John) are on their way out of Arizona being chased by some riders who hope to cash in on the reward money for their capture. They are warned in time by Ed Dawson (Hansel Warner), but Ed is wounded in the getaway. They get a doctor (John Elliott) to attend to Ed. The latter tells them there is a range war in progress across the border and that he is looking for men to help make a cattle drive to the rail junction. Agreeing to help, they head for the Dawson ranch and run across a Dawson man who has been killed from ambush. Mary Dawson (Frances Gladwin), Ed's sister, thinks they did it but they convince her of their innocence. The news of the killing causes ranch foreman Brandon (Charles King), secretly working for the rustlers, to try and get the rest of the Dawson hands to quit, but Billy intercedes and agrees to take the cattle through for Sam Dawson (Ed Cassidy). Brandon and Coulter (Glenn Strange) have their henchmen stampede the cattle on the drive and Elkins (Frank Ellis), one of Coulter's men, meets with Billy after the stampede and suggests his boss will buy up what cattle are left. Fuzzy also meets a couple of ranchers who have had the same proposition made to them. Coulter later recognizes Billy as the wanted Billy the Kid, and makes an offer for them to work together. Billy sees this as a way to smash the gang and agrees, provided he gets a cut of the Dawson herd. Billy and Fuzzy hold up a stage to keep the cattle money out of the hands of the Coulter gang, but Coulter, realizing he has been double-crossed, kidnaps Mary.

This 18th entry, of 19, in PRC's "Billy the Kid" series (first six starring Bob Steele and the last 13 with Buster Crabbe) finds town banker John Martin (Karl Hackett) calling on Billy (Buster Crabbe) and Fuzzy (Al St. John) for help in capturing the men that robbed his bank. Billy figures that sooner or later some of the money will be put in circulation and, through the serial numbers, the outlaws can be identified. The gang is led by town Mayor Dave Hill (Ray Bennett) who wants to wipe out the bank and the rancher's money source so that he can take over their lands that are on, unknown to them, rich oil deposits. Billy suspects the Mayor, but before he and Fuzzy break into the Mayor's office and find the stolen money, John Martin is framed and accused of robbing his own bank.

In the 19th and last of the PRC "Billy the Kid" series (first six with Bob Steele and last 13 with Buster Crabbe), a feud develops between the settlers and the railroad detectives in Red Rock Valley. Clem Barstow sends for Billy the Kid and Fuzzy Jones to help. Buster suspects that Ward Tragg, chief of the railroad detectives, and Luther Sharp, land agent for the Western Railroad Company, are defrauding the settlers without the knowledge or sanction of the company. Billy and the settlers rustle off cattle, which have been illegally confiscated by Tragg and his men, in order to raise money for Barstow to bid on a ranch which Sharp is illegally auctioning off. Billy discovers that the purchase price on the deed has been altered and Barstow writes the company to send a man to investigate. When Tragg learns about this, he makes plans to kidnap the railroad official.

In the first of the "Billy Carson" series, Mesa City is all set to welcome the new stagecoach coming through on its first trip after Tom Farrell (Frank LaRue),of the Farrell Stagecoach Company has secured permission from the government to run a road through the bad lands. There is a good-natured rivalry between Farrell and Billy Carson ('Buster CRabbe'), who operates the Pony Express,and whose pony-express-road parallels the new stagecoach line. Jim Higgins (John Merton), crooked lawyer in the employ of Del Stone (Charles King), whose plans to grab rich land is thwarted by Farrell's stagecoach line. Stone has four henchmen attack the coach, whose passenger is Sally Farrell (Patti McCarty), Farrell's daughter. Billy, riding his pony express route, cuts in between the pursuing henchies and the stagecoach, and climbs on top of the stagecoach, takes the rifle from the driver, Jed Clark (Hank Bell), and laying flat on the roof fires at and kills two of the bandits and the other two ride off. But Stone and Higgins are far from through, and set up a scheme to pit Carson and Farrell against each other.

Wolf Valley is in the throes of a land-grab engineered by Barlow and Taylor. The fight against them is led by Billy Carson, who is framed on a murder charge which the outlaws believe will drive him out of the territory. But instead of running, Billy surrenders and stands trial before Judge Ryan, a square shooter. After weighing the evidence, Ryan finds Bill not guilty but sentences Billy to jail for 30 days for disturbing the peace because the Judge thinks that is the only way to save Billy from the vengeance of Barlow and Taylor. But, without Billy's leadership, the settlers are helpless and ranches are burned, cattle rustled, the town is shot up, the bank robbed and the mining claim owned by Billy and Fuzzy Jones is confiscated. Ryan releases Billy who puts on a fake mustache, gets a sombrero and poses as a Mexican cattle-buyer in order to work his way into the gang.

Billy Carson arrives in King City looking for two men and kills them both. Caught by the Marshal he tells his story. When he and Fuzzy were boys, their wagon train was attacked and their parents killed. Years later the recently reunited boyhood friends get a clue as to their parents murderers and head to King City.
