Swedish agent Carl Hamilton and Finnish Åke Stålhandske are ordered to stop Russian smugglers. The smuggled goods is a nuclear missile. It's an SS 20, 1,5 megatons, "enough to turn Paris, Washington or New York to ashes". The American villain is Mike Hawkins.

Special agent Hamilton goes undercover and joins a Russian mafia organization that smuggles swedish weapons to terrorists. Suddenly they are attacked by unknown group of heavily armed men who kill everybody except Hamilton and take the weapons. But who are they? And who are they working for? Hamilton starts chasing them across the world...

Carl Hamilton (Coq Rouge, Sweden's James Bond) is called before KU (Sweden's answer to the American congressional hearing) to answer questions about a spy war between Sweden and the Soviet Union.

The West German security police, Verfassungsschutz, need help to infiltrate a group connected to the Rote Arme Fraktion. The Swedish James Bond, Carl Hamilton, goes to Hamburg, pretending to be a Swedish officer, thrown out of the country after having been exposed as an East German spy. He gets in contact with the terrorists and joins them. Together they are planning to strike against the CIA headquarters in Stockholm

In the distant future, Evey Hammond is an average citizen of the United Kingdom, which is under the rule of the fascist and tyrannical Norsefire Party. When the chief of Swedish Security Agency Eva Tanguy (Frida Hallgren) avoids an assassination of a political leader that is visiting Sweden, she accepts to give an interview to the press and her words are twisted by the journalists. Soon her seven-year daughter Nathalie (Nadja Christiansson) is kidnapped in a park. The girl is the goddaughter of Carl Hamilton (Mikael Persbrandt) that investigate the case. He follows leads to United Kingdom and finds where Nathalie is and that he should not rely on his secret service that is compromised. He summons Mouna Al Fathar (Saba Mubarak), Nathalie's father Pierre Tanguy (Reuben Sallmander), who was a member of the French Foreign Legion and the mercenary Patrik Wärnstrand (Peter Eggers) to rescue Nathalie from the fortress of the terrorists.

Carl Hamilton (Coq Rouge) is called to Moscow to testify on behalf of a GRU officer who is charged with treason against the state. He has to testify that the officer has not sold information to Sweden.
