Doug Dorsey is a hockey player for the U.S. team in the 1988 Winter Olympics. After a vicious game against West Germany, he was forced to retire after an injury. Kate Moseley was doing her program and fell during the same Olympic games. Both have fought hard to get to the Winter Olympics, and suddenly their dreams have been shattered. A temperamental but talented figure skater, Kate has had many partners, until her coach recruits Doug as a potential partner. Through the difficult training of 15 hours of skating a day, they finally prepare for the nationals and the Olympics. A romance blooms, and their final show could make or break them as they attempt to achieve their dreams of the Olympic Gold Medal.

Jackie Dorsey is the daughter of 1992 Winter Olympics Gold medalists Kate Moseley and Doug Dorsey. She grows up with ambitions of winning her own Olympic gold but that ambition seems to come to an end when she has a career threatening injury. Enter Alex Harrison as her new pairs skate partner and a new chance at Olympic Gold. But can they set aside their stubbornness long enough to actually win the game?

Rich, handsome, courteous Seattle golden boy Zack Conroy's figure skating partner Celeste Mercier is disabled for months in a training accident. Like their coach Bryan Hemmings, she insists he takes a temporary partner to go on to the national championship, his ticket to the world championship in Paris. Zach and his temper discard all candidates from the circuit, but after an alteration with an ice hockey amateur team he shares to ice with to train, he sets his mind on their only girl, taco joint daughter-waitress Alejandra 'Alex' Delgado. She's unacceptable to Hemmings, who dumps Zach and starts an affair with Celeste, to whom he finds another partner. Zach and Alex's worlds keep clashing, but determination, her brother and another coach see them trough.

In "The Cutting Edge: Fire and Ice," Francia Raisa reprises her role as Alejandra "Alex" Delgado in film franchise, whose figure skating career came to an abrupt halt after her partner (on and off the ice) became injured. As their love affair cooled, a heart-broken Alex stopped competing and turned to teaching. Enter James McKinsey, the smoldering bad boy of speed skating, who has had fiery Alex in his sights as a skating partner ever since he was banned from speed skating. There aren't many girls who say no to James Alex may well be the first. However, James pushes her buttons, challenging her like no one else and her fighting spirit returns. She agrees to be his partner and they begin a grueling practice regimen fueled (and occasionally derailed) by their own tempestuous relationship which heats up as they get closer to competition. But will their passion destroy Alex's chance to bring home the gold again?
